i work for a government agency and i just overheard the following conversation
lady @ work: so what's the difference between a dvd-rw and a cd-rw?
techie @ work: the dvd-rw holds a lot more information than the cd-rw?
lady @ work: omg! really!?!??! they look exactly the same!
techie @ work: umm yeah dvds and cds do look a like
hahahahahha
the lady is 30, white, born and raised in america - so she's not someone unfamiliar with technology and what not. the sad part is that she works in information technology privacy.
yay for hiring competent workers...

okay so it's obvious i go in spurts of writing and not writing...
but lemme just say one thing - i can not stand rude people.
i was riding the metro yesterday and there were about 6 girls who were very loud. one (plump) girl was very very loud swinging from spanish to english and hollering 1/2 way across the train.
someone from their own group says "hey, you're being kinda loud" and they all laugh and it get quiet and whispery for a few seconds and grows louder again.
unfortunately one sits beside me nad is really loud so i say "i'm sorry, i don't mean to interrupt you, but you're being kinda of loud" and she looks and me and says "well there are 6 of us who know each other" and i say "that's great, but you could stand to be just a tad bit quieter" and she just glares and me and looks at me like she's about to spit on me.
then my stop comes up and i say "excuse me" and make my way to the door. of course, the door takes about 3 mintues to even open so i hear the girl who sat beside me telling her friends shit about me "oh that girl said we were being loud" *eye roll* that is SO threatening...
and then the bitch calls me frumpy b/c i was knitting! ugh, if ever i wished to use my knitting needles, then would've been the time.
it's not like i said "shut the fuck up you loud whore, you and your slut friends" i was very polite and still people suck.
it's very unnerving to me that common decency and politeness do not exist anymore. i really just don't like it.
